JMU Access PartnershipPolicyJMU is actively involved with government, industry and disability organisations to formulate policy, strategy and standards in inclusive design. We believe this work helps keep us at the cutting edge of current best practice and feeds directly into the consultancy advice we provide to our clients. Our staff serve on the British Standards Institute Panel considering the 5 year review of BS8300: 2001 and forums on transport and the built environment. JMU was a founding member of the National Register of Access Consultants (NRAC), set up with government support to provide assurance of competency and quality in the access profession. We are part of the NRAC management group and assessment panels. In addition, we are active contributors to the Joint Committee on Mobility of Blind and Partially Sighted People (JCMBPS) and members of the Access Association. Through our policy work we have been involved in the development of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 2005, including the Disability Equality Duty for the public sector. You can find out more about the practical applications of the Duty by attending one of our training courses.
